THE US decision to exclude Ankara from the program for the supply of F-35 fighters is a unilateral step and can cause irreparable damage to bilateral relations. This was stated by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkey. “This unilateral step is not connected with the spirit of Alliance and has no legal grounds,” – the foreign Ministry said in the statement. “It is unfair that Turkey, which is one of the partners of the F-35 program, is excluded from it,” – the foreign Ministry added, refuting Washington’s statement that the purchase of S-400 air defense systems from Russia will weaken the F-35 program. The statement was published after the White house confirmed the exclusion of Turkey from the F-35 program. It is reported that this decision was made in connection with the purchase of Russian air defense S-400 by Ankara. In addition, according to the Pentagon, Turkish manufacturers that supply more than 900 parts will not receive $ 9 billion under the cooperation program.
