Ankara is grateful to Nursultan Nazarbayev for the special contribution he made to the development of cooperation between Turkey and Kazakhstan. It was said by Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu following a meeting with Nazarbayev in the Kazakh capital.

The Turkish Minister called Nazarbayev the aksakal of the Turkic world, whose policy is recognized throughout the world.

Chavushoglu noted that the ex-President of Kazakhstan made a lot of efforts to bring together the Turkic-speaking countries, in particular, on the basis of his initiative, the Turkic Council was founded.

“The efforts of Nazarbayev and the leaders of the participating countries have strengthened the Turkic Council. The organization has established itself in the international arena”,- Mevlut said.

The Turkish foreign Minister recalled that the head of the Turkish state Regep Tayyip Erdogan proposed to elect the former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev as the honorary Chairman of the Turkic Council. The idea was supported by the presidents of other countries-members of the Turkic Council, –  Chavushoglu stated.
