The price increase was 13.73% for the residential sector and 14.97% for the industrial and commercial segments. According to the article of the law on consumption tax, inflation data will be updated twice a year (in July and January). Tariff increases for electricity, water and natural gas can be increased according to inflation data updates. Since 1 July this year, electricity prices also increased by 14.98% for the residential, industrial and commercial sectors. The total demand of Turkey for natural gas is about 50 billion cubic meters per year, of which 27 billion (54%) are imported from two gas pipelines from Russia, another 18% — from Iran through the pipeline, 14% — LNG (mainly Qatari) and 12% — from Azerbaijan also through the pipeline. Other gas suppliers to Turkey are Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, but their share in the Turkish market is very small.
