THE Minister of agriculture and forestry of Turkey Bekir Pakdemirli went to the province of Mugla, where the forests were in fire. The head of Department reported that the fire occurred in the area of Gochek. He noted that works on suppression are conducted, however localization of the centers of ignition is prevented by a strong wind. Also, Pakdemirli said that there are no injured by forest fires. “Nobody suffered as a result of forest fires in the area of Gochek”, – Pakdemirli said. Forests cover 27.6 percent of Turkey’s territory. Almost all of them are owned by the state. In Turkey, since 1937, more than 68 thousand cases of forest fires have been recorded. In the last 10 years alone, more than 24 thousand cases of forest fires have been recorded in Turkey.
